About the Book:
This debut novel Damn Genius, is a women’s fiction, mystery/thriller of 100,000 words. Eva isn’t your average genius. She not only excels after skipping multiple grades but she is resourceful, and that makes a big difference. Eva refuses to dwell on the past and her mother’s death. She doesn’t want to think about how she then got stuck with her father who has a drug problem and leaves for days at a time. Some feel she grew up too fast when her group of friends blends with the same ‘bad element’ as her fathers’. However, this may be exactly what she needs when a sociopath named Will relentlessly causes harm to her and those near her.
After breaking in and secretly recording her in her own room, Will posts footage online to build an army of violent followers that can turn up anywhere. She doesn’t know who the real enemy is, if it is Will or the monsters he created. She does know they are now also responsible for the tens of millions missing from her father’s business. Though her father can claim thousands of bad decisions, Eva isn’t standing by when his business and his life is threatened. She speaks multiple languages fluently and can hack nearly any computer. Along with the questionable friends she cultivated through the years, Eva starts to peel away layers of a decade of lies and learn how her mother really died.
Eva isn't perfect but none of us are. She is relatable and I want to drive people to think beyond the traditional view of genius and consider what is the genius inside each of us.
Target Market:
This book is targeted primarily for the female market, ages 18-50 for those that would most closely relate and be entertained by the characters. Those that are entertained by the build of troubled characters like those captured by Donna Tart will enjoy as well as those that like the plot twists of Mary Kubica or Ruth Ware.
