About the author

I have spent nearly twenty years in a successful Marketing career representing some of the largest brands (Accenture, AMEX, Caterpillar, Ford, GM and Progressive). I wanted to leverage my experience crafting marketing and brand messages to tell a story with more meaning for me.I also look forward to using my marketing background to help promote it.
Why this story? Why now?
With gifted individuals in my close circle of family and friends, they formed the foundation and inspiration to bring to life the brilliant, naïve and often tormented character of Eva. I felt the time was right for a realistic, intelligent and strong heroine to lead the story. Though she is bullied throughout, she continues to triumph.
I am passionate about creating smart and strong female characters, ones that don’t require a diagnosis to rationalize their intelligence. I also wanted an honest perspective that recognizes that great strengths can also bring challenges.
Additional Background:
As I lived the majority of my life in Chicago, the drama and character of the city was the perfect backdrop for the story. The city streets can feel lonely but many discover it is the largest small town, where you can run into someone you know in the unlikeliest of places.
I plan to write under the pen name Tara Butler. And yes, my first name comes from Gone with the Wind, so when I decided to publish under a different name this slight yet significant alteration to my last name was a perfect fit. Please note that I am still rebuilding my social media presence under this name.
Constructive feedback on the book as well as the site is welcome.
